Actor, filmmaker and television presenter Ramesh Aravind, who has worked in Kannada, Tamil and Hindi films, has been roped in to host Kannadada Kotiyadipathi, the official Kannada language adaptation of the internationally renowned game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. The show first became popular in India with its Hindi adaptation “Kaun Banega Crorepati”, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan. All its Indian versions are produced by Big Synergy.
Siddhartha Basu, the creative consultant of the production house, announced on Twitter on Saturday: “Delighted that the eloquent, empathetic, knowledgeable, multi-award winning host, actor, director, writer, Ramesh Aravind will be hosting ‘Kannadada Kotiyadipathi’ on Star Suvarna. “The call for entries will open soon – a golden opportunity for a chance to get on to the hot seat.” Ramesh is known for his roles in Sathi Leelavathi, Duet, America America, Nammoora Mandara Hoove and Ulta Palta and has also scripted the National Award-winning film Hoomale in 1998.
Ramesh Arvind is currently directing the Kannada and Tamil remakes of Queen which star Parul Yadav and Kajal Aggarwal respectively. Ramesh Arvind last directed by Thoongavanam with Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Ramesh Arvind was last seen in the 2017 release Pushpaka Vimana which was directed by S.Ravindranath. Pushpaka Vimana was Ramesh Arvind’s 100th film as an actor and also starred Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla in an important role. The film is said to be an adaptation of a South Korean film titled Miracle in Cell No. 7. Ramesh Arvind also has a Tamil film titled Machan which has, however, not been released yet. The film was slated to be released in 2017 but has been delayed due to reasons unknown.
Besides the remakes of Queen in Kannada and Tamil, Ramesh Arvind has directed many films including the acclaimed film Uttama Villain staring Kamal Haasan. Ramesh Arvind also directed the Kannada remake of Telugu hit film Bhale Bhale Magadivoy which has actor Nani in the lead role which is titled Sundaranga Jaana in Kannada.
