South Indian actress Sruthi Hariharan accused popular actor Arjun Sarja of sexual harassment during the shooting of their bilingual film, Vismaya. As a part of Me Too Movement, Sruthi Hariharan shared that how during a rehearsal scene, the actor inappropriately touched her. Now, the actor has responded to the allegations saying that if he stays quiet, people might think him guilty. Arjun Sarja is also planning to take legal action against the actress.
“Filmmakers, often, ask me suggestions for improvisation of scenes considering my experience. If it is good they will accept it, else they tell me that ‘we will do it slight differently.’ In fact, there were lots of intimate scenes in the movie, but I refused to do it as I am not comfortable doing it. I also told the director that such scenes are not required for this film and if they still want it he would not be part of the project,” Arjun Sarja told in an interview to Public TV.
The actor further said how he is shocked by the accusations put on him. Arjun Sarja says, “I am not able to digest those accusations. If I don’t respond people might think that I might be guilty. So, I am out here to give my clarification.”
The actor further responded to the accusations that he asked Sruthi on dinner. He says, “I don’t remember, but I might have asked her to join for lunch on the sets. However, I never asked her to go out for dinner.”
Arjun Sarja also put out some questions asking why did the actress praise him back then and that if she is putting all these accusations on someone’s say. “Why did she praise me then and why her stand about me has changed all together? Is she telling those words or someone else is behind her?” the actor questions.
The actor also added saying he knows the importance of how much women should feel safe as he has his own daughter entered in the film industry. Further adding that how he appreciates me too movement but it should not be used for publicity.
