Baahubali The Conclusion faced a major hurdle for its release in Karnataka after Pro-Kannada activists threatened to halt the release of the film in Karnataka. The protests started after a video surfaced which showed Sathyaraj making some comments about people of Karnataka during the Cauvery water issue. The group demanded that Sathyaraj should apologize for his comments elsethey would not allow the release of Baahubali 2, in which Sathyaraj plays Kattappa,in Karnataka.
Sathyaraj posted a video and apologised for his comments and said that he is not against the people of Karnataka. Post the apology, the activists have withdrawn the protest and have agreed to allow the release of Baahubali.
“We accept the regret expressed by Sathyaraj and have decided to drop our protests. We have also withdrawn the call for Bengaluru bandh on April 28,” said Vattal Nagaraj who heads the group called Kannada Okoota. This comes as a sigh of relief for director Rajamouli, producers and the distributors who acquired the theatrical distribution in Karnataka.
Nagaraj also added that since Sathyaraj regrets for his comments, they would not want to prolong the protest and will let go the issue here. He also said that if Sathyaraj targets Karnataka in the future, they will not allow any of his tamil films to be released in Karnataka and will ban him.
Baahubali The Conclusion is slated to be released on April 28th, 2017 worldwide in thousands of screens. The producers invested a whopping INR 350 crores on just the second part of Baahubali, which now seems to be releasing without any hurdles in Karnataka.
