Sunday witnessed the grand finale of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 5 with five contestants tussling it out – Chandan Shetty, Diwakar, Jayaram Karthik, Nivedita Gowda and Shruti Prakash. Host actor Kichcha Sudeep announced the winner of the fifth season of Bigg Boss Kannada as Chandan Shetty which was being predicted on social media by fans. Sudeep spoke with the audience at the venue and the participants as to who, they think, should win the trophy and many said that Diwakar should win so that he settles down financially. Chandan Shetty erupted out of joy after Sudeep made the announcement and was congratulated by everyone present there. Diwakar ended as runner-up on the show and for the first time, the organisers gifted a cash prize to a runner-up as well.
“I’d like to thank my music guru Arjun Janya on this occasion. He is the one who identified me as a singer and turned me into a rapper,” Chandan Shetty said after winning the trophy. Chandan Shetty wins a cash prize of INR 50 lakhs besides the trophy.
Unlike the previous seasons, Season 5 of Bigg Boss Kannada had 11 celebrities and 6 non-celebrities. The contestants who ocked horns for the Bigg Boss title of Season 5 are Jaya Srinivasan, Megha, Dayal Padmanabhan, Sihi Kahi Chandru, Shruti Prakash, Anupama Gowda, Riyaz Basha, Niveditha Gowda, Pundit Sameeracharya, Karthik Jayaram, Ashitha Chandrappa, Diwaker, Tejaswini Prakash, Chandan Shetty, Suma, Jaga and Krishi.
Chandan Shetty also said that his aim is to take Kannada to global level and make Kannada music very popular. “TV channels that play English music should also play Kannada songs. And that’s possible,” Chandan added further. The rapper, who hails from Sakleshpur, was the favourite to win the fifth season, as predicted by polls. Jayaram Karthik ended at the third place and won cash prize of INR 2 lakhs and a gift voucher for the tasks he had performed.
