Bollywood hit film ‘Queen’ is being remade in all the four South Indian languages starring Kajal Aggarwal in Tamil, Tamannaah Bhatia in Telugu, Parul Yadav in Kannada and Manjima Mohan. While the Kannada and Tamil versions are being directed by Ramesh Arvind, the Telugu version is being directed by Neelakanta and the director for the Malayalam version is yet to be confirmed by the makers. The shooting of the remakes is currently in progress in Paris and all the lead actresses are shooting simultaneously for it. The role played by Lisa Haydon in the Hindi version is being essayed by Elli AvrRam in Kannada and Tamil while the Telugu and Malayalam versions will Shibani Dandekar reprising that role. Speaking to a leading daily, Elli AvrRam opens up about being part of the remake and her preparation for the role.
“I am in love with South Indian languages. They sound very nice. Kannada, in particular, has a very exotic ring to it. While it is Indian, the way it sounds, it feels European. What was encouraging was the fact that the team complimented my pronunciation of Kannada and said that I sound like just another Bengaluru girl,” Elli was quoted as saying by TOI.
The actress is quite excited about venturing into South films and says, “I have followed South Indian cinema. Like everyone else, Baahubali is my current favourite film and I am in awe of it. I am also looking forward to Rajinikanth’s new film Kaala. In Kannada, I know Puneeth Rajkumar is a big star and he dances extremely well. I also am fond of Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu.”
