In shocking news, legendary Kannada actor and politician Ambareesh passed away on Saturday night at a private hospital in Bengaluru due to cardiac arrest. The veteran actor was 66. The actor was under treatment at the hospital for multiple ailments. According to media reports, Ambareesh was admitted to the hospital after he collapsed in the evening at his home in JP Nagar. He was immediately taken to hospital but took his last breath after suffering massive cardiac arrest. Fans and celebrities from the South Indian film industry have started pouring their last respect for the legendary actor on social media.
Meanwhile, reports suggest heavy security has been arranged outside the hospital and police have asked fans to maintain peace. The entrance of the city’s Vikram hospital has been blocked with barricades. Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had also visited the hospital late on Saturday night after the news broke out. He has also asked fans to keep the peace. “The funeral of our beloved actor and politician will be held at Bengaluru on Monday at Kanteerava Studios. Fans and supporters can pay their last tributes to Ambareesh from 7.30 am onwards on Sunday at the Kanteerava Stadium,” he said.
Ambareesh won the national award for his debut film Naagarahaavu in 1972 and was known as ‘Rebel star’. He served as a union minister in the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh and was an MP from 1998-99, 1999-2004 and 2004-2009
Ambareesh developed breathing problems in 2014 and since then he was hospitalized frequently. In the same year in March, he was taken to Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital for treatment
