After prominent Telugu filmmaker, Dasari Narayana Rao passed away yesterday in Hyderabad, Kannada producer and wife of the late Dr. Rajkumar passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, May 31, 2017, in Bengaluru. She was being treated in a private hospital in Bengaluru for a few weeks now. Her sons, Shiva Rajkumar, Puneet Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar were all by her side when she breathed her last. Dr. Naresh Shetty, who has been treating the eminent Kannada producer, said,” Parvathamma had a cardiac arrest at 4.30 am. Despite all active measures, she failed to respond and she was declared dead at 4.40 am.”

Parvathamma’s mortal remains will be buried at the Kanteerava Studios near Dr. Rajkumar’s grave in the evening today. The body will be placed to pay last respects at Poorna Pragna grounds in Sadashiva Nagar in Bengaluru.

Parvathamma has produced more than 75 films in Kannada which includes films of Dr. Rajkumar. She was also one of the reasons for the stardom of Dr. Rajkumar. Under the production of Parvathamma, many Kannada actresses like Prema, Malasree, Ramya, Rakshita and Sudha Rani had come to the forefront and have had successful careers.

Born in Nanjangud in Mysore, Parvathamma was the second child among four sons and four daughters. Parvathamma married Rajkumar in 1953 and the couple has three sons who all have careers in cinema.

Her son, Raghavendra Rajkumar, said that her eyes were donated as per the final wish of their father Dr. Rajkumar, whose eyes were also donated after his demise in 2006.
