Noted Kannada actor RN Sudarshan passed away today at a hospital in Bengaluru due to a prolonged illness. The actor was 78 years old and breathed his last today at a private hospital in Bengaluru. Sudarshan has acted in many movies in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu movies. Born Ratihalli Nagendra Sudarshan, survived by his wife Shailashree who is also an actor by profession. RN Sudarshan was the son of R Narendra Rao who is also a popular name Kannada cinema and brother of Kannada writer R N Jayagopal.
According to reports in the media, RN Sudarshan was hospitalised last week due to an illness for which he was being treated. More details regarding this are awaited. Sudarshan made his debut in Kananda film Vijayanagarada Veeraputra which was released in 1961 and was 21 years when the film released. Vijayanagarada Veeraputra was directed by his father and written by his brother. Post his successful debut, Sudarshan acted in more than 50 films as a lead actor.
Mr. Sudarshan has also acted in more than 250 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films and is a popular personality in South Indian film circles. Naguva Hoovu, Mareyada Deepavali, Maria, My Darling, Paayum Pul and Matha are few of his popular films. The last film that RN Sudarshan appeared was Golden Star Ganesh’s Zoom. Lately, Sudarshan has been appearing in television daily soaps and had become a household name in Kannada circles.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and many other celebrities from the Kannada film industry have expressed their condolences to Sudarshan’s family.
