Shivarajkumar starrer Kavacha: Kannada remake of Oppam goes on the floors, first look released

If you are a fan of the much-loved Shivarajkumar, then get ready to rejoice. As it so happens, his eagerly-awaited ‘Kavacha’ went on the floors yesterday in Bengaluru amidst much fan fare. And, to make the occasion even more special, the makers released its first look poster on the social media. Needless to say, the poster is quite intriguing and does a good job of adding to the buzz surrounding the film.

In case you did not know, ‘Kavacha’ is a remake of the Malayalam hit ‘Oppam’ and will see SRK essay the role played by Mohanlal in the original version. While ‘Oppam’ was directed by Priyadarshan, the remake is being helmed by debutant GVR Vasu. Besides Shivarajkumar, ‘Kavacha’ also features Isha Koppikar in the lead while Vashishta Simha plays the main antagonist. Interestingly, child actor Meenakshi, who was a part of ‘Oppam’—will be a part of the Kannada version as well.

‘Oppam’ was a crime-thriller and revolved around how a visually-challenged man who protects a girl from a serial killer.  Released in September 2016, the film received rave reviews and proved to be a major money spinner. It will be worth watching if ‘Kavacha’ lives up to the high standards set by the original.

On a related note, this is a busy time for Shivarajkumar. Besides ‘Kavacha’, he also has ‘The Villain’ in his kitty. A Prem directorial, it also features Sudeep in the lead and is one of the most eagerly-awaited Kannada films in recent times.
