Nandamuri Kalyanram’s Pataas was a stupendous hit in Telugu film industry and changed the direction of Kalyanram’s career. Pataas was directed by debutant Anil Ravipudi, who is now working with Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja on a film titled Raja The Great. Pataas is now being remade in Kannada and Golden Star will play the lead role in the film.
Prominent producer SV Babu is producing this remake and young director Manju Swaraj has directed the film. The film is titled Pataki in Kannada. Speaking to a leading daily producer SV Babu said,”Pataki is an out-and-out entertainer, which gets serious before the climax. Manju has taken care to keep the nativity in check. In fact, there were some production restrictions in the Telugu film, which we have included in ours.”
He adds that it was actor Sai Kumar who suggested that Pataas be remade in Kannada with Ganesh as the lead. Speaking about it, Babu added, “We are used to seeing Sai Kumar as a cop, and I was worried about Ganesh being sidelined while playing a cop alongside him. But I was shocked after watching the film. He’s acted very well in the film — you will feel that he is a real cop, not acting to be one.”
Ganesh and SV Babu’s have done films together in the past too. Sangama, released in 2008, was produced by Babu under the banner SV productions. “Ganesh and I are good friends; in fact, I am close even with his wife, Shilpa. They got married right after we began shooting Sangama, and the three of us usually discuss films together. Even now, we speak to each other several times a day,” said SV babu while speaking about their association.
Pataki is releasing on May 26th, 2017 worldwide.
