Tamil film industry and common people of Tamil Nadu have been protesting the central government’s silence on the Cauvery issues and have been holding rallies and agitations across Karnataka urging the government to form a management body. Actors like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and many others have been vocal about the Cauvery issue and even took part in a silent protest held by the Nadigar Sangam (Actors Association) on Sunday. Many actors even opposed the UPL matched, to be played in Chennai, to be withheld to display the protest supporting the Cauvery issue. Counterparts of Tamil actors in Karnataka have been silent on the issue and many felt that there should have been some opinion from them as well. And now, breaking the silence on the issue, veteran actor Anant Nag has opened up on the protests by the Tamil actors, people of Tamil Nadu and others. Anant Nag indirectly referred to Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, speaking about the issue, in a video posted on Facebook.

It is not surprising that Tamil Nadu has been impatient, non-cooperative and fighting over the Cauvery water dispute for many years. Now, the leaders of the state have called for a bandh and are making a provocative statement. It is understood that the central government will do more good works for Karnataka, keeping the upcoming state assembly elections in view,” Anand Nag said in the video posted on Facebook.

Even though there are no upcoming elections in the state, two popular actors, who want to make it big in politics, are making provocative statements like the previous generation of politicians. I would humbly and inevitably like to say that I standby with the people of Karnataka in their fight to safeguard the Kannada language, land, and water,” added Anant Nag referring to Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
