Mohanlal’s Villain to Ram’s Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi: Here are the major films releasing this week

The legendary Mohanlal is arguably one of the biggest names in Malayalam cinema today. And, now, he is all set to entertain moviegoers with his latest release ‘Villain’ which hits screens this Friday. A  B Unnikrishnan directorial, it has created quite a buzz amongst fans thanks to its gripping trailer and could turn out to be a big winner at the box office. Interestingly, it is not the only Southern films hitting screens this week. Here is look at ‘Villain’ and other films that will be entertaining fans over the weekend.

Villain (Malayalam): The biggest release of the week. ‘Villain’ is touted to be an emotional thriller and features Mohanlal in the role of a retired cop. Judging by the trailer, the film could turn out to be quite an edge of the seat affair. Besides ‘Lalettan’, it also features Manju Warrier, Vishal and Hansika in the lead. Tamil stars Vishal and Hansika are making their Mollywood debut with this one.


Kalathur Gramam (Tamil): An action-packed period drama, ‘Kalathur Gramam’ has been directed by Saran K Advaithan and revolves around the rivalry between a father-son duo. Boasting of a soundtrack by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja, it features Kishore and Yagna Shetty in the lead.

Kadaisi Bench Karthi (Tamil): Featuring ‘Spyder’ star Bharath in the lead, this light-hearted comedy has been directed by Ravi Bhargavan and was originally supposed to hit screens earlier but could not because of the double taxation controversy facing the Tamil film industry. Besides Bharath, it also features Punjabi model Ruhani Sharma in the lead. Sometime ago, the director had revealed that the film revolves around how smartphones affect the romantic relationships of young couples.

Tiger Galli (Kannada): ‘Tiger Galli’ marks the return of noted filmmaker Ravi Srivatsa after a gap of nearly five years and is an action drama. Featuring actor Ninasam Sathish in the lead, it is likely to contain some pulsating action scenes and massy dialogues. Sometime ago, Sathish had said that the film is a throwback to the good old days.

Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi (Telugu): A Kishore Tirumala directorial, ‘Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi’ is a drama and features Ram-Anupama Parameswaran in the lead. This will be Ram’s first release of the release of the year and it will be worth watching whether the ‘Hyper’ actor is able to impress us with his performance in the film.
