AMMA slams a leading daily over a report of Mohanlal threatening to quit as president

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has been quite in the news since a very long time over the decision to bring Dileep back to AMMA. Since then Mohanlal has been facing the ire of WCC for revoking the suspension of accused actor Dileep. Recently, reports were doing rounds that Mohanlal is on the verge of resigning from his post of A.M.M.A president due to alleged manipulation is done by a powerful member in the association to hijack his letter before it reached the Ministry.

One of Kerala’s leading dailies reported that AMMA was divided and that actor Mohanlal is threatening to resign from the post of president. Well, now, The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) took to social media, slamming Mathrubhumi newspaper over the news of Mohanlal quitting the association.

“This is to inform all the members of AMMA to not worry about the reports in Mathrubhumi.”, AMMA wrote on social media.

The association further added that they have stopped providing the advertisements to the newspaper since a very long time and this is why they are putting them in the wrong light. “Because of this, Mathrubhumi is taking out their frustration on us,” the post further reads.

“From insulting newly released films to portraying the people who work in the Malayalam film industry in a bad light, the newspaper has been attacking the Malayalam film industry,” says AMMA in their Facebook statement.

AMMA made it clear that there is no problem within the body and also warned the members of the association to not worry with such reports.

“We do not want to make public the issue we have with Mathrubhumi. However, for very long now, the paper has been, in the name of film reviews, intentionally slandering each and every film just a day after its release. This pattern has even affected the box office collections of these movies,” the letter, written by KPFA President G Suresh Kumar alleged.
