Velipadinte Pusthakam staring Mohanlal released on September 1st during the festive season of Onam. Velipadinte Pusthakam is a story that revolves around the character being played by Mohanlal who tries to bring about changes in the students of the college. The script is written by Benny P. Nayarambalam and the music is being composed by Shaan Rahman. Velipadinte Pusthakam is being produced by Mohanlal’s long time associate and friend Antony Perumbavoor.
Released on Friday before Onam, Velipadinte Pusthakam opened to some decent numbers at the box office in Kerala. During the first three days at the box office, Velipadinte Pusthakam earned a box office collections of a little over INR 5 crores in Kerala alone while the overseas numbers are yet to be updated. This is a little below the average collections for a Mohanlal film which usually revolves around INR 7-10 crores. The overseas collections of Velipadinte Pusthakam are being predicted to be at similar numbers by industry experts looking at the pattern at the Kerala box office.
Velipadinte Pusthakam will mark the first-time association of Mohanlal and director Lal Jose who have acted in many films together, but never worked as a director-actor duo. Velipadinte Pusthakam also features Priyanka Nair in the lead role while Anna Rajan will be seen playing an important role.
With couple of other films also releasing at the same time with Velipadinte Pusthakam, experts are indicating that it could be reason for the average run at the box office.
