Actor Kalabhavan Shajohn, executive member of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) says that the decision to suspend Dileep from the association was a collective decision and was not due to a pressure from any specific actor. Shajohn also adds what Ganesh Kumar had said about Prithviraj pressurising the members to suspend Dileep from membership of AMMA is incorrect and it was a collective decision to do so. However, Shajohn now feels that the decision might be incorrect and an assessment of the whole situation is required.

After Dileep was arrested by the Aluva police in connection with the Malayalam actress assault case, AMMA suspended Dileep from the association and said they stand in support of the actress. The story took a twist after Dileep was granted bail and came out, and actor-politician Ganesh Kumar said that the association was under pressure from Prithviraj and Mammootty to suspend Dileep’s membership. Actress Remya Nambeesan voiced out her opinion and said that the decision was a collective one and no one had any upper hand.

“AMMA’s decisions are not made by a single person, but by a group. The decision to expel Dileep was made by a group. The announcement was made by the core members of the executive after getting approval of all the members, including me, Prithvi and others. It was also mentioned that if Dileep is found to be not guilty, he would be taken back in the association after making an apology to him,” Remya had said.
