Fans and celebrities bid a tearful goodbye to Violinist Balabhaskar

In the heartbreaking news this week, musician and violinist Balabhaskar passed away a couple of weeks after a major car accident. After his 2-year-old daughter died in the accident, Balabhaskar, who was critically injured during the accident passed away at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on early Tuesday morning. Many fans and celebrities from the industry paid their last respects to Balabhaskar. Balabhaskar was laid to rest with full state honours at Thycaud Santhikavadam. The cremation was performed with state honours.

Thousands visited the place to have a last glimpse of the artist. Celebrities including Stephen Devassy, singer Madhu Balakrishnan, drummer Sivamani and Bineesh Kodiyeri bid a tearful adieu to him. Balabhaskar’s body was kept for the public to pay their last respects at a Thiruvananthapuram college where he studied. Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja, CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, musicians Vidhu Pratap and Stephen Devassy, were among others who paid last respect. Celebrities like Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and many others were quite shocked by the death of Balabhaskar’s death and sent out their last respects on social media.

The car rammed into a tree after the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving Balabhaskar and his wife severely injured. The couple was returning from Thrissur after visiting a temple. The accident happened early in the morning at around 4:30 AM. Balabhaskar along with his daughter Tejaswini Bala was sitting next to the driver’s seat while his wife was on the back seat when the accident happened.

Balabhaskar shot to fame when he was 17 years old and has worked with Dr. K. J. Yesudas, Hairharan, Suresh Wadkar, K. S. Chitra, Sujatha, Sreenivas, Karthik and some other legendary singers.
