Young actor Priya Varrier has undoubtedly become the heartthrob of Malayalam cinema thanks to her sweet wink and lovely expressions in the Manikya Malaraya Poovi number from Oru Adaar Love. In fact, thanks to that viral number, she has been flooded with romantic proposals and become a ‘National crush’ of sorts. However, the number has also gotten her into some trouble.
Yesterday, a young man from Hyderabad had filed a complaint against her and the makers of the song for ‘hurting Muslim sentiments’. And, shortly after that, it was rumoured/ reported that a maulana had issued a fatwa against Priya, And, needless to say, this related a buzz on the social media. However, no such fatwa was ever issued. According to a leading website, the rumour started because of a parody account called ‘Times How’ and the whole thing was meant as nothing but a joke.
Well, we sincerely hope that this puts all rumours to rest for good.
