There can be no denying that young actor Priya Varrier has become the latest heartthrob of M-town because of her cute wink in the Manikya Malaraya Poovi number from Oru Adaar Love. In fact, the social media is flooded with memes of the young girl and she has become the ‘National crush’ this Valentine’s season.
Now, she is in the news for a shocking reason. According to a leading news channel, a young man from Hyderabad has filed an FIR against Priya and the makers of Oru Adaar Love for allegedly ‘hurting religious sentiments’. The youth apparently loved the song and googled its lyrics. Upon translating the lyrics into English, he realised that the song spoke about Prophet Mohammed in a derogatory way. Following this, he reported the matter to the authorities. Well, this is a development and it will be worth watching what happens next.
In case you did not know, the Manikya Malaraya Poovi song has been composed by Thalassery K Refeeque and recreated by Shaan Rahman. Vineeth Sreenivasan has crooned it like a boss and added a new dimension to it. The video revolves around two sweethearts and is set in a college/school setting. In it, the lovers can be seen exchanging shy glances at each other and redefining the meaning of love.
Interestingly, because of the video’s popularity, Priya Prakash Varrier has managed to cross the 1 million mark on Instagram in no time. Talking about becoming an overnight sensation, she recently said that it was an overwhelming experience.
“I am very happy. Don’t know how to handle so much love. It’s completely surreal. I’m falling short of words trying to express myself. Never expected this,” she added.
Oru Adaar love is touted to be a romantic-drama and has been directed by Omar Lulu. It features newcomers in the lead and will hit screens in March.
