The soothing Manikya Malaraya Poovi number from Oru Adaar Love has undoubtedly become a rage amongst youngsters. And, it goes without saying that young actor Priya Varrier’s wink is the single biggest reason behind the video’s popularity. However, the song seems to have ruffled a few feathers as well. Yesterday, a Muslim youth filed a complaint against the makers of the song and claimed that it spoke about Prophet Muhammed in an unacceptable way. Now, the Raza Academy has demanded a ban on the Manikya Malaraya Poovi number for hurting religious sentiments. Talking about this, the Raza Academy President said that using the folk number in movies is any ‘Islamic laws’.
“The lyrics of the song are of a Malayalam folk song which is only sung during the events of Muslims, using it in movies or any form of entertainment is against the Islamic laws,” he added.
He also said that if the number is not chopped off from the film, the Raza Academy would protest.
“If the song is not removed from the film then the members of Raza academy will protest nationwide,” he added.
Well, this is a sensitive situation and it will be worth what watching happens next.
In case you did not know, the Manikya Malaraya Poovi song has been composed by Thalassery K Refeeque and recreated by ace musician Shaan Rahman. Vineeth Sreenivasan has crooned it like a pro and added a new dimension to it. The video revolves around two young lovebirds and is set in a college/school setting. In it, the sweethearts can be seen exchanging shy glances at each other and proving the innocence of love.
Talking about the song’s popularity and her instant stardom, Priya recently said that it was an ‘overwhelming’ feeling.
Oru Adaar Love has been directed by Omar Lulu and will hit screens pretty soon.
