Malayalam actor Appani Sarath, who shot to fame with the very popular Angamaly Diaries and the recent super hit song Jimmi Kammal, has bagged a big project in Tamil cinema. Sarath will be seen playing a central character in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam which is a multi-starrer. Chekka Chivantha Vaanam stars Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Arvind Swami, Simbu, Arun Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Aishwarya Rajesh and Prakash Raj in important roles making it one of the biggest multi-starrers in Tamil cinema in the recent times. Appani Sarath also has couple of other Tamil films up his sleeve one of them includes Vishal’s Sandakozhi 2. Apanni Sarath told DC that the shooting of his portions will begin in March this year. Sarath recently wrapped up Sandakozhi 2 and he got the offer from Mani Ratnam towards the end of the shooting. “By the time the shoot was over, I was called for this project. It is more of a character role. In Sandakozhi, I play a negative role. The other Tamil film I am part of is yet to be named,” Appani Sarath was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle. Sarath also has a Malayalam film titled Contessa in which he will be playing the lead role.
Appani Sarath became more famous with Jimmi Kammal from Velipadinte Pusthakam starring Mohanlal as a professor. The song went on to clock more than 50 million views on digital platforms and is still counting. Jimmi Kammal has become an anthem of sorts for many college events and made Sarath very popular for his dance moves in the song. Jimmi Kammal is composed by Shaan Rahman and sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan and Ranjith Unni. The song became viral and produced several dance covers uploaded by fans on YouTube. The song was released as a promo video for Velipadinte Pusthakam and instantly became a hit.
