Actress Gautami made a comeback in films after a long back in the 2015 release Papanasanam alongside Kamal Haasan. Papanasanam was a remake of Mohanlal starrer Malayalam film Drishyam which was released in 2013. Gautami then acted another film in 2016 in Telugu titled Manamantha which was a critically acclaimed film. The actress is now part of another Malayalam film titled E which is being directed by Kukku Surendran.

Director Kukku says that the role Gautami plays is different from what she has played so far in her career. “However, she is appearing in a never-before-seen avatar. She won’t be the person we saw in His Highness Abdulla or Sukutram. By the time I finished the narration, she gave the green signal. She was impressed and convinced by the story and her character,” told the director Kukku to a leading daily in a recent interview.

E is set in Harippad. Malathy Menon runs a homestay there. “It has all the elements of a horror thriller and does justice to the genre of spooky movies,” speaking about Gautami’s character in E.

The director revealed more details about E and said,” Not really. This project was in my mind for a long time. Though the Prithviraj-starrer Ezra happened, I had no intention to follow any trend. It will be a fresh approach. That is because the story demands it. We plan to release it by August second week. Carnival Pictures have taken over its world-wide distribution.”

The story and screenplay of E is written by Rohan Bajaj and Amin Surani.
