Nivin Pauly, whose latest release Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela has been getting some positive reviews, is working on a big budget film titled Moothon. Directed by Geethu Mohandas, Moothon will be co-produced by Bollywood filmmaker Anurahg Kashyap. It is being said that it could be the biggest film in Malayalam cinema this year after the makers roped in the graphics team that worked on Hollywood hit flick Life of Pi.
“It’s very much a mainstream movie. Be it Geetu, Rajeev Ravi or Anurag Kashyap, the people behind it are supremely talented. For graphics, the team who have worked in Life of Pi have been roped in. The grandeur, technology and story will ensure that it would be a movie that Malayalis can be proud of,” Nivin Pauly told TOI. Moothon will be one of the biggest films in Nivin’s career for which he has learnt Hindi and Malayalam that is spoken on the islands of Laskhadweep. The Premam actor’s look in Moothon will be totally different which he has never sported so far in his career.
Director Geetu Mohandas had said in an interview that Nivin Pauly was the first choice for Moothon after the script was locked. “Moothon means elder brother in the Lakshadweep slang and the movie is about a teenager’s search for his elder brother. As soon as the script was finished, the first name that came to my mind to play the role was Nivin’s,” said Geetu Mohandas.
Nivin Pauly also has another film lined up, Kayamkulam Kochunni, which is directed by Roshan Andrrews. Kayamkulam Kochunni also features Amala Paul in the lead role who will appear in a Malayalam film after a very long time.
