Malayalam actress assault case: Court to pronounce judgement on January 9 2018

Actor Dileep, in November, had filed a petition in the Angamaly court stating the investigating officials of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) had leaked few points in the additional chargesheet to the media. The court has now deferred the verdict to January 9th, 2018 and pronounce the verdict in the Malayalam actress assault case. Dileep came out of jail on a conditional bail in October after having spent 85 days inside the jail in the case. The investigating team had filed the chargesheet with the Angamaly court in which it has claimed that there are more than 300 evidences and witnesses in the Malayalam actress assault case and more than 50 witnesses are from the Malayalam film industry which includes Dileep’s ex-wife Manju Warrier and current wife Kavya Madhavan. It was after this piece of news came out that Dileep filed the petition with the court and claimed that the SIT officials have leaked it to the media.

The petition also said that the leaking of the chargesheet will affect the verdict of the case and may affect Dileep’s career too. The charge sheet, that was filed with the Angamaly Court, says that Dileep hatched the conspiracy on the victim after the Malayalam actress leaked about Dileep’s affair to his ex-wife Manju Warrier. The report also further states that the two, Dileep and the Malayalam actress, had a huge argument at a plush hotel in Kochi during a meeting regarding this and this further led to Dileep developing a grudge on the Malayalam actress. It was earlier being said that Dileep may be named the primary accused in the case but in a surprise move, he is now named the Eight accused while Pulsar Suni has been named as the first accused. According to the petition, the police officials have been asked to explain and provide the reason for putting out the supplementary chargesheet to media, reports reveal.

The report also further states that the two, Dileep and the Malayalam actress, had a huge argument at a plush hotel in Kochi during a meeting regarding this and this further led to Dileep developing a grudge on the Malayalam actress.

Dileep was arrested on July 10th, 2017 after the investigating officials of the Malayalam actress assault case found irrefutable case against the actor. The police officials questioned Dileep for more than 10 hours of July 8th, 2017 and proceeded with the arrest after finding evidences. Dileep was granted bail by the Kerala high Court after being denied for four times. Pulsar Suni, along with his associates, had stopped the victim’s car on the night of February 17th this year and the Malayalam actress was molested by the men, before being let off at her house in Kochi.

Manju Warrier being named as a key witness in the Malayalam actress abduction case has come as a surprise since not many were expecting it. Dileep, after coming out on bail, had said that few people from the Malayalam industry had hatched a conspiracy against him in this case and indirectly hinted at Manju Warrier too. And this development of naming Manju Warrier as the key witness comes as a big blow to the actor.

Also, Dileep had recently written to the Home Secretary about the case and asked the government to start a CID probe into the case. Dileep has mentioned in his latter that he has been trapped by the police officials and he is innocent. Dileep also has named the officers – ADGP Sandhya, DGP Loknath Behera and Ernakulam Rural SP George – in his latter as the ones who have implicated him into the case. Reports also suggest that Dileep has also mentioned in the letter that he had told officials that he was being blackmailed by the prime accused Pulsar Suni which the officials never took into account while investigating the case.
