According to reports, Angamaly Magistrate Court earlier today rejected Malayalam actor Dileep’s latest bail plea in connection with the Malayalam actress assault case and added to his worries. The star’s counsel stated that as the cops had not filed an additional charge sheet within 60 days of his arrest, he should be granted bail. On the other hand, the prosecution stated that granting him bail could affect the entire investigation.
Interestingly, this recent development comes at a time when Dileep’s Ramleela is all set to hit screens. The film will arrive in theatres on September 28. And, this has not gone down well with a certain section of the audience. There is an online movement to ‘boycott it. Recently, director Arun Gopy had said that the controversy will not affect the fate of Ramleela as everyone is intelligent enough to ultimately make his or her own decisions.
“Nobody is talking about the positive campaign going on, nobody is listening to the voices who are saying that they will support the film and watch it. When 10 people are asking for a boycott, another 1000 people are saying they will watch it. But nobody is giving importance to that,” he had said
In case you did not know, Dileep was arrested in connection the actress assault case on July 10 and has been in custody since. A few days ago, he was allowed to leave jail for two hours in order to attend the prayer meet of his father. After performing the needed rituals, he was taken back to jail amidst tight security. It goes without saying that this is a hard time for Dileep and it will be worth watching what happens next.
