Film stars from across the country have come forward for their contribution to Kerala relief fund. Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and many others came out to help flood-hit Kerala. South celebs Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Sethupathi, Sidharth, Dhanush, Kamal Haasan among others have donated money to help the victim of Kerala floods. Just recently, music composer AR Rahman donated Rs 1 crore to the relief fund in Kerala. However, the contribution from Malayalam celebrities for the people of Kerala has hit the controversy. There’s a lot of buzz over the same on social media and recently, State Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran also slammed Malayalam actors for showing no contribution.
At the inauguration ceremony of ‘Care Kerala’ scheme for the rehabilitation of flood victims, Surendran criticised celebrities of the Malayalam film industry for not contributing to Kerala Relief fund. “We have superstars in our state. I have heard they get paid Rs 3-4 crore for a film. But, they all have to learn from the actor (Prabhas) from Andhra (Pradesh), who has no inclination towards Malayalam and still donated Rs 1 crore. He did not hesitate. He heard about the tragedy and came,” said Surendran at the event, which was presided over by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Allu Arjun has donated Rs 25 lakh, Kamal Haasan Rs 25 lakh, Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan Rs 25 lakh, Anupama Parameshwaran Rs 1 lakh, Vijay Sethupathi Rs 25 lakh, Siddharth Rs 10 lakh, Dhanush Rs 15 lakh, Sivakarthikeyan Rs 10 lakh, Nayanthara Rs 10 lakh, Vishal Rs 10 lakh, Chiyaan Vikram Rs 35 lakhs, Vijay Devarakonda Rs 5 lakh among others have helped their bit.
