Mammootty to play a chief minster in his upcoming political drama which will also star Sreenivasan

The shooting of the film will go on floors by end of this year and may be released during mid-2019.

Confirmed! Mammootty to play YSR in the former Andhra CM’s biopic

Actor Mammootty has numerous movies under his belt which includes an untitled political drama to be directed by Santosh Vishwanath. The film will have Mammootty playing the Chief Minister of Kerala which will be for the first ever time in his career. The film will also star veteran actor Sreenivasan who has acted alongside Mammootty in many films for more than three decades. Said to be a political drama, the yet untitled film will have both the stars playing intense role and will be a very interesting storyline, says director Santosh Vishwanath. However, Santosh also adds that Sreenivasan’s character will be a role which would have no clue about politics in the film. “He will be playing a politically ignorant individual. He doesn’t know a thing about the politics in the State,” the director was quoted as saying by Times of India.

The shooting of the film will go on floors by end of this year and may be released during mid-2019. Mammootty had earlier played a chief minster in Tamil film Makkal Aatchi which released in 1995 and interestingly,Mammotty will be seen playing YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the politicians biopic which is titled Yatra. The biopic was recently announced and will be directed by Mahi Raghav who earlier Anando Bramha with Taapsee. The film in Malayalam, with Mammootty and Sreenivasan, will also feature Renji Panicker in an important role while young actor Vishnu Unnkrishnan will be seen playing a prominent character.

Mammootty was last seen in Uncle which released on April 27th, 2018 worldwide but failed to impress the audience. Mammootty is seen playing a 50 year old man who is on road trip with a 18 year old girl played by Karthika Muralidharan who earlier acted with Dulquer Salmaan in CIA: Comrades in America. Uncle fared decently at the box office however could not continue the momentum into the first week of release.
