Manju Warrier quits Women in Cinema Collective? Read to know

Reports have been doing rounds that Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, one of the founding members of Women in Cinema Collective, has quit being the member of the association. While there has been no official statement on the same by the actress, rumours suggest that Manju has given resignation. The organization has not received any letter of resignation from the actress yet.

However, the truth is that all’s not well between Manju Warrier and WCC as she is not happy with the decision being taken by the association. Vidhu Vincent, in an interview to a website, reacted to the reports of how Manju left the WhatsApp group of WCC. Speaking on the same, he said that members of the Women in Cinema Collective go off from the group during their work and join back later.

Actress Revathy said, “Manju had told us that she wants to stay away from this entire thing for a while. All of us at WCC said ‘yes, its your personal decision, please go ahead’. From that point onwards, Manju has not been part of any decision or discussion in the WCC. As a democratic organisation, we respect that.”

Meanwhile, Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) will get into talks with the WCC regarding Dileep’s reinstatement. Recently, The Kannada Film Industry’ (KFI) and the ‘Film Industry for Rights & Equality’ (FIRE) have condemned AMMA over their decision of lifting the ban on actor Dileep.

In a letter to AMMA General Secretary Edavala Babu, KFI and FIRE asked the association “to revoke Dileep’s reinstatement till he is cleared of all charges and uphold the moral compasses that our film industries at their best possess.”

The letter has 50 signatures including actors Chetan, Sruthi Hariharan, Shraddha Srinath, Diganth, Meghana Gaonkar, actor-directors Rakshit Shetty and Prakash Rai, directors Kavitha Lankesh, Roopa Iyer and Pannaga Bharana, among others.

Well, many celebrities from the Malayalam cinema have slammed the decision of AMMA.

Dont be hasty in passing judgment. The man she loved for 15 years has turned out to be the accused. May be she just wanted to be out of media glare for some time. May be they have her silent support. So, until she comes out with a statement, why this hoohaha

Ungrateful woman. Bhavana got embroiled in this entire mess after she decided to warn Manju about Dileep’s illicit affairs. I think Bhavana would have been better off today had she just chosen to mind her own business and watch the fun from the sidelines…:(
