Masterpiece Trailer: Mammootty’s rowdy professor act is terrific

Mammootty can be seen in a new avatar in the ‘Masterpiece’ trailer.

The much-loved Mammootty is undoubtedly one of the most revered names in Malayalam cinema today. During an enviable career that spans over four decades, the National award winner has won the love of fans courtesy his evergreen personality, gripping performances, and range as a performer. Moreover, over the years, he has been a part of several popular films and proved that he is a synonym for success.

Now, M-Town’s resident megastar is in the news again and that too for one terrific reason. As it so happens, the official trailer of his ‘Masterpiece’ has been released and it is terrific. In it, Mammootty can be seen in a new avatar that he simply rocks. He does full justice to his rowdy professor avatar and leaves us asking for more. His confident body language and dashing antics gel quite well with his act and ups its recall value in a big. That’s how you steal the show and show that you are the real deal. This one definitely could be a treat for his fans.

In case you did not know, ‘Masterpiece’ is touted to be an action-drama and has been directed by Ajai Vasudev. Besides Mammootty, it also features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Unni Mukundan in the lead. The supporting cast features names such as Maqbool Salmaan, Divya Pillai and Mukesh.

Sometime ago, the director had said that ‘Masterpiece’ will highlight Mammootty’s superstar image to the fullest.

“It’s set in a campus and Mammootty will play a college lecturer. The movie will be an entertainer and we hope to use Mammukka’s superstar image to the maximum, in terms of his mannerisms and style,” he had told a daily.

Well, we wish the team of ‘Masterpiece good luck and hope that the film does well at the ticket window.’
On a related note, this is a busy time for Maammootty. Besides ‘Masterpiece’, he has several other big films in kitty including ‘Parole’ and ‘Streetlights’ in his kitty.

‘Streetlights’ has been directed by ad masker-turned-director Sharrath Sandith and has upcoming actress Ineya playing the female lead. Sometime ago, the young lady had said that working with the megastar was a good experience for her.

“Things started falling into place soon, thanks to his guidance and tips. He was very supportive and while we were doing a lengthy, emotional scene, Mammukka asked the cameraman to take a close up shot of mine. It was a sequence in which our characters were having an argument. He even took the mike from Sarath and directed the scene himself. Everyone on the set said he would do something like that only when a performance moved him. I felt really honoured,” she had told TOI.

As far as ‘Streetlights’ is concerned, it is a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual and will see Maammootty essay the role of a cop. Its poster was released sometime ago and created a buzz amongst movie goers. In it, Mammootty was seen in an intense avatar which he did justice to. Besides Mammootty, it also has actor Prithvi Rajan in the lead. Somettime ago, he had told a leading daily that he will be seen alongside Lijomol in ‘’Streetlights’

“While Mammootty sir plays the investigating officer, my character will get connected in one of his probing segments. Malayalam actress Lijomol is paired opposite me. Ours is a cute romantic portion which is mostly hilarious. The challenge involved was that the first shot would be filmed in Tamil, followed by Malayalam,” he had added.

He had also added that Mammootty is a terrific person and thorough professional.

“It is an investigative thriller directed by Shamdath who cranked the camera for Kamal Haasan starrer Vishwaroopam and Uthama Villain. And there’s a cast change with respect to each language. I am part of the Tamil version. My dad Pandiarajan will also be seen in a crucial role. I had few scenes along with sir, and I was floored by his charisma! Mammootty sir is also the producer of the movie. The team was very professional and comfort levels were very good,” he had added.
