Megastar Mammootty to star in a period-drama about a medieval festival

Mammootty is all set to star in a period film based on the medieval festival of Mamankam.

Are you a fan of the iconic Mammootty? If yes then get ready to rejoice as we have some awesome news in store for you. According to a leading daily, the veteran superstar is all set to star in a period film based on the medieval festival of Mamankam. To be directed by debutant Sanjeev Pillai, the film be set in the 17th century and is going to revolve around the exploits of brave leader. Confirming that the film is actually happening, a source said that it will highlight how brave warriors used to indulge in combat during the Mamankam festival.

“It’s the tale of the brave warriors of Malabar. During the Mamankam festival held at the banks of Bharathapuzha in Tirunavaya, soldiers from all over the country used to come together to wager battles and combat. This movie is about a brave leader and his loyal soldiers,” added the source.

Interestingly, Mammootty’s look here will be pretty different from the ones sported by him in other period dramas like Pazhassi Raja and Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha. Well, this good news indeed and we are sure that Mammookka will do full justice to his role.

On a related note, even at his age, Mammootty is showing no signs of slowing down. At present, he has several films in his kitty. They include Streetlights, Parole, Peranbu, Masterpiece and Raja 2.  All in all, his fans have plenty to look forward to.
