A week ago, the nuns from Kuravilangad convent in Kerala started a protest near Kochi High Court, demanding the arrest of rape accused Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal. The accused also happens to be their colleague. Since last few weeks, the incident has become a talk of the town and has received support from various sections of the country. From politicians to actors to activists, many have reacted on the same. Recently, Mohanlal attended an event organized by his NGO ViswaSanthi Foundation on flood relief work.
During the media interaction, Mohanlal was asked about the protest, to which he replied, “Don’t you have shame to ask such unnecessary questions, in between when such a good thing is happening. What should the nun do? What is the relation of that to what we are doing? you can ask several other things.” Soon, the Malayalam star was criticised on social media for snapping a reporter which made him to apologise for his remark immediately.
The actor took to Facebook to acknowledge that he was wrong. His post read, “If my reply has hurt the individual, then, please accept my apology considering me as your elder brother. My answer was not meant for the individual, any institution or journalism. I am always obliged to answer your questions.”
“It is one of the most discussed issues in the state at present, but I was not in the right state of mind to reply to that. That’s why such a reply came from me,” the post further read.
Recently Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon reacted She had tweeted, ” Can the Commision for women please look into this? @Manekagandhibjp this is clear intimidation of a victim, to suppress her voice. Can a case be filed against this man? (sic).”
