Mohanlal’s Mahabharata which is also being referred to as Randamoozham is being said to be the biggest film in Indian cinema in terms of budget. Directed by VA Shrikumar Menon, Mahabharata is being made on a whopping budget of INR 1000 crores which is the biggest ever in Indian cinema. An adaptation of a book titled Randamoozham written by MT Vasudevan Nair, the film will have Mohanlal playing the role of Bheema while the rest of the case is yet to be decided by the makers. Some very big names in Indian cinema are being considered for top roles in this film which will be released in 2018.
And according to latest reports, the official launch of Mahabharata/Randamoozham might happen in October in a big event which will provide further details about the film. It is also being reported that the official launch event will also reveal the cast and crew of the film along with a motion poster which will reveal the title. An official confirmation regarding this is awaited from the production house of the film.
Director Shrikumar had, in an interview, said that the film will be on a larger canvas and a lot of CG will be used in the film. “I met MT Vasudevan Nair two years ago and told him I am interested in making Randamoozham into a film. But he said it would require a canvas that was far larger than what regional Indian cinema could offer and that’s why he had never written a screenplay despite a lot of demand. I promised him I would bring in the best technicians by making it a “global” film. He then got to work and he gave me a fully bound script within four months,” Shrikumar had said.
