Hyped as the costliest film in Indian cinema, principal shooting of Mohanlal’s Mahabharata will commence in 2018. The film will witness Mohanlal essay the role of Bheema, for which the actor plans to prepare hard before hitting the shooting floors.
Mahabharata will be directed by V Shri Kumar, who is a prominent personality in advertisement business. Latest buzz regarding Mahabharata is that the film might not be shot in Indian film cities.
News has it that the epic film will be shot in Abu Dhabi and not in India. Being bankrolled by businessman B R Shetty, the film will be completely shot in the Middle-East region since B R Shetty has most of the business establishments in that region. Rumours are doing rounds that tax reasons might also be one of the reason for the film to be shot in Abu Dhabi.
Mahabharata will be an adaptation of a book titled Randamoozham which is written by prominent writer MT Vasudevan Nair. The story in the film will be a narration from the perspective of Bheema, the character being played by Mohanlal.
The film is now facing a major hurdle in the state of Kerala with a Hindu activists group opposing the title of the film. KP Sasikala, The President of the group, opposed to the title of the film saying that the name of a traditional book cannot be used for a film for commercial purposes. The makers of Mahabharata are yet to respond to this news regarding the title.
