Actor Nivin Pauly’s upcoming film Kayamkulam Kochunni, a period drama is being made on a huge budget. Said to be a story set in the 1800s, Kayamkulam Kochunni also stars Mohanlal and is being directed by Rosshan Andrews. The makers of the film unveiled the trailer of the film earlier this month and it received a positive response from the fans on social media. While the trailer looks impressive, do you know the challenges the cast and crew faced during the shoot? Well, crocodiles and animals played major threat to makers of the film on the sets in Sri Lanka. The makers were shooting on a lake in Sri Lanka which Kochunni had to leap in.
While talking to Times Of India, director Rosshan Andrews shared some details about how challenging it was to shoot. “It was a beautiful location, so we finalised it at first sight but when we reached the place, someone told us that the area had close to 300 crocodiles. We didn’t have any other option. So, we got some of crew to get into the lake, make noise to drive the crocs away, and then Nivin began shooting. Even then we saw five crocodiles skirting on the sides,” said the director.
Nivin had even fractured his hand while doing one of the action scenes in the film. “A fortnight later, Nivin resumed the shoot and a few days after that an entire bullock cart almost fell on him. He escaped by a hair’s breadth,” revealed the director.
Talking about the film, Kayamkulam Kochunni starring Nivin Pauly is said to be one of the biggest films in the actor’s career in which he would be seen playing a thief. Nivin Pauly has also learned the art of Kalaripayattu which is a martial art which originated in Kerala.
