Kalidas Jayaram, son of veteran Malayalam actor Jayaram, will be making his debut in acting as hero with Poomaram which is being directed by Abrid Shine. The release of the film was delayed several times in the past owing to numerous issues before being finally confirmed to be releasing today, March 15th, 2018. The makers say that there will be no change in the release date this time. The shooting of Poomaram kicked off couple of years ago but the makers couldn’t find a release date for the film. Poomaram is being jointly produced by Paul Varghese and Abrid Shine. The story of Poomaram is said to be about a college going young man who has an inclination towards politics.
Speaking about Poomaram and his debut in films as a hero, Kalidas Jayaram said that his father, actor Jayaram, helped him a lot in understanding the way cinema works. “When I came into movies, my father was already busy with a handful of films and my mother had quit acting. When I was doing Poomaram my mother told, ‘you have a roof above your head and food on your table. You have everything to live comfortably. So when you choose a movie, money should not be a priority. You should not see cinema as a business,” Kalidas Jayaram was quoted as saying by Manoramaonline. Besides Kalidas Jayaram, Poomaram also stars Kunchacko Boban, Meera Jasmine and Manju Warrier in important roles.
Kalidas started his acting career in 2000 as a child artist in Malayalam film Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal for which he even bagged a Kerala State Award. Kalidas went on to act in couple of more Malayalam films and also received another Kerala State Award in 2003 for Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum. And with Poomaram hitting the screens today, Kalidas will look to make a successful debut as hero in Malayalam cinema.
