Dulquer Salmaan will now spread his wings to Bollywood after becoming a top star in Malayalam. The top star of Malayalam cinema will now foray into Bollywood with a film directed by Akarsh Khurana, a theatre personality, which will also feature Mithila Palkar and Bollywood biggie Irrfan Khan.

Speaking to TOI, director Akarsh Khurana revealed what made him choose Dulquer Salmaan for this role. “I have been following Dulquer for a while after Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani. And I really loved his movie, Charlie. He has showcased a fantabulous performance in it. Then I watched his movies, Bangalore days, Kammattipaadam and so on…He is the perfect cast for the movie,” said Akarsh Khurana who is also making debut as a director in Bollywood.

Dulquer will play a Bangalore based young man in this yet to be titled film. “It is a slice of life kind of movie and a sweet realistic comedy. The characters of Irrfan Khan, Mithila Palkar and Dulquer are from different walks of life who come together at one juncture of their lives,” added Akarsh.

Dulquer, who is already a top actor in Malayalam, will also make his debut in Telugu cinema with Mahanati which is a biopic on yesteryear legendary actress Savitri. Dulquer Salmaan will be seen playing Gemini Ganesan in Mahanati and Keerthy Suresh will be seen playing Savitri in the film.
