Actress Poonam Bajwa has worked with Malayalam Mega Star Mammootty in two films already – Venicile Vyapari and Shikari –released in 2011 and 2012 respectively. And now she will be pairing with the Mega Star for the third time for his upcoming film – Masterpiece. Directed by Ajai Vasudev, Masterpiece will have Mammotty play the role of an urbane professor and will be seen in a look which he has never sported before. The film was slated to be released this year however, has been delayed a bit. It is now being said that Masterpiece will be released in the early part of 2018. Speaking to a leading daily, Poonam Bajwa shares her experience of working on the film and working for the third time with Mammoka.

I had a blast on the sets. I enjoyed working with Mammootty sir.  But, what hooked me to Masterpiece is the role of a college lecturer. Rarely do such roles come to me. It is like a graduation, from student to teacher,” was quoted as saying by New Indian Express. “It reminded me of my college days. It would feel so surreal acting like a teacher. But, in the end, it was such a great experience. This was something I was looking forward to when Ajay Vasudev narrated the script to me,” Poonam adds further.

Speaking about her affiliation with Kerala and Malayalam, Poonam says, “It is interesting. Whenever I am on the sets of a Malayalam movie, I can easily converse in Malayalam and interact with people. But, I seem to lose the skill once I go back. Kerala is close to me. If I get a few days free, my instant reaction is to hop on a flight and come to Munnar. So, I never feel alien here.”

Poonam has acted in all four South Indian languages after having made her debut in Telugu many years ago. Speaking about her experience as an actor, Poonam adds, “As an actor, I am greedy. If I get characters that I love to do, the language won’t stop me from taking it up. It is like an auto-pilot mode, I get adapted that easily.”

Mammootty will also be seen in the sequel of 2007 release Big B, which is titled Bilal. Directed by Amal Neerad, ‘Big B’ was said to be an adaptation of Hollywood film ‘Four Brothers’. Amal Neerad and Mammootty have now joined hands for a sequel to the film which is titled ‘Bilal’. Dulquer Salmaan, son of Mammootty, recently had shared the first look poster of the film which has Mammootty in an intense look and has raised the buzz around the film. ‘Bilal’ is slated to be released in 2018, as indicated in the poster.

‘Big B’ is one of the biggest hit films in the Malayalam film industry and changed the dynamics of the industry. Besides Mammootty, ‘Big B’ also stars Nafisa Ali, Manoj K Jayan, Bala Kumar, Lena, Mamta Mohandas and Innocent in pivotal roles. The music of ‘Big B’ was composed by Gopi Sunder and was one of the biggest hit albums of those times. Expectations around the sequel, ‘Bilal’, are quite high since the combination of Mammootty and Amal Neerad had delivered a great film almost a decade ago.

Mammootty will also be seen in a film on ‘Kunjari Marakkar’ with the same title which will be directed by Santosh Sivan. Santosh Sivan had recently announced that the film will go on floors soon and they are looking to release it in 2018.
