Former Minister and critic Sebastian Paul recently came out in support of actor Dileep in the Malayalam actress assault case and said that there is nothing wrong in sympathising with Dileep. Sebastian Paul recently wrote for a website, owned by him, and pointed out few aspects about how everyone is in a rush to convict the accused in the Malayalam actress assault case. Mr. Paul also criticised the judiciary system for denying bail to actor Dileep in the case and lashed out at the way it was being dealt with.
“Dileep has spent 60 days in jail. This is a crucial milestone in the remand phase. the next one is 90. In order to refuse the natural justice of bail, the police will submit a chargesheet by then. On the basis of the chargesheet, the police will object to the bail plea. Now that’s the police side. The criminal law and the constitution warns us not to trust the police version,” wrote Sebastian Paul in his article.
Sebastian Paul wrote further lashed out at the judges and said they were not looking at the case from all possible angles and only trusting the police blindly. Sebastian, however, faced flak and a lot of criticism for supporting Dileep in the case.
Popular Script-Writer Deedi took to her social networking page and posted a message lashing out at Sebastian Paul for his support to Dileep. “I was very close to Dileep also. But for last the 25 years I have been studying, writing and researching about sexual abuses in Malayalam industry. So I can only stand with the girl who was attacked,” Dedi wrote.
The Malayalam actress assault case has been in the news since February this year after the actress was abducted from her car by Pulsar Suni and few men, and later let off on a highway near Kochi after being sexually assaulted.
