Malayalam actress Shweta Menon reportedly filed a complaint with the cyber police after receiving threatening calls on Sunday morning from unknown numbers. The actress is currently in Mumbai and has filed a complaint with the cyber police at here. According to media reports, Shweta suspects phone threats are due to her nomination to be a member of the executive committee of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Shweta revealed caller said her something like, “I called to say something. The same industry will betray you too.”
“I got a call inviting me to be a member of the executive committee, and I said it’s an honour. Simultaneously, I’m getting threatening calls. I’m in Mumbai and had no clue what it meant. Then I saw the news of my nomination on media and realised that the two must be connected,” Times Of India quoted Shweta Menon
Following the formation of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), women from every field will be given equal rights. Being a part of AMMA, the actress further says, “I’m an AMMA member. And for me, to get upgraded to an executive member is an honour.” Shweta also says that she won’t be a spokesperson for anyone.
On the work front, Shweta will be seen in her next film Kammara Sambhavam. The other star cast includes Siddharth, Dileep, Bobby Simha, Namitha Pramod, Shweta Menon and Murali Gopy. In the movie, Dileep and Siddharth play Kammaran Nambiar and Othenan Nambiar respectively. This will also mark the directorial debut of advertisement filmmaker Rathish Ambat.
Kammara Sambhavam is bankrolled by Gokulam Gopalan under his production banner Gokulam movies with a budget of Rs 20 crore. The movie is expected to have a Vishu release.
Shweta Menon made her debut with Mammootty starrer Anaswaram, which had hit the theatres in 1991. Later, the actress also went on to appear in Bollywood.
