This summer’s biggest hit has to be Sudani From Nigeria. The film based on seven football matches impressed the audience of Kerala. The film grabbed all the attention over the success story and the controversies related to the Nigerian actor Samuel Abiola Robinson. The film not only received positive reviews but also went on to earn huge at the Box Office. Made on the budget of Rs 2 crore by debutant director Zakariya Mohammad, the film went on to earn Rs 18 crore approx in Kerala itself. After the release of the film, Samuel Abiola Robinson became popular among Kerala people.
Well, the Nollywood actor will soon be seen in a Malayalam film again. The filmmakers are currently eyeing to work with Robinson. According to media reports, he will be back in a which will go on the floors on May 25. The movie titled Purple will star Robinson and will be directed by Dr Parthasaradhi, who had earlier made the Telugu film, Kanchanamala Cable TV released in 2005.
The film will also star Vishnu Vinayan, Vishnu Govind, Rishi Prakash, Marina Michale (Paipin Chuvattile Pranayam fame) and Niharika among others. The shooting of the film will take place in various locations of Kozhikode and Coimbatore.
Well, Robinson is the first Nigerian actor to play a lead role in an Indian film, Sudani from Nigeria, alongside Indian actor Soubin Shahir. The Malayalam language Indian film went on to become a commercial success.
CV Sarathy, one of the distributors of Sudani From Nigeria was quoted by Firstpost saying, “The film struck a chord with ordinary viewers as the content was entertaining and engaging. It also proved that you do not require big stars or canvass to get an opening.”
