During a recent interaction with the media, actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi answered a question about the actress assault case and made a few strong statements along the way. He said that an attack on anyone needs to be investigated properly and thoroughly. He went on to add that he stands by the victim and hopes that she gets justice. However, at the same time, he refused to criticise actor Dileep for his alleged involvement in the case and said that the tendency to put all the blame on an accused is a ‘societal perversion’.
Interestingly, Suresh Gopi’s statement comes at a time when several stars have lashed out at Dileep and distanced themselves from him.
In case you did not know, earlier this year, a noted Malayalam actress was assaulted while travelling to Kochi. This created a buzz in the industry. Popular actor Dileep came under the radar when the main accused Pulsar Suni AKA Sunil Kumar tried contacting him while in prison.
Earlier this week, the cops called the ‘Love 24X7’ star for questioning and arrested him thereafter. Following this, some Malayalam actors attended an emergency meeting of AMMA and removed Dileep from the organisation. To make matters worse, he was soon expelled from his own syndicate Film Exhibitors United Organization of Kerala. Yesterday, Dileep received another setback when his bail plea got rejected and he was forced to go back to judicial custody.
All in all, this is a rather serious/sensitive situation and it will be interesting to see what happens next.
