The song ‘Jimikki Kammal’ from Mohanlal starrer Velipadinte Pusthakam has become a rage not just in Kerala but across the globe too. One of the online users had tweeted the song to Jimmy Kimmel, whose name is similar to the song, and the talk show host responded to it saying he loved it. And the song is now one of the favourites among young crowd across the nation. Many versions of the song have been made in the form of dubsmash and flash mobs which have equally become very famous as the song. However, three Muslim girls were trolled online when they performed a flash mob on the song on the busy roads of Malappuram in Kerala. The college going girls performed the songs, video of which is going viral online, and showcased their talent, which seems to have not gone down well with few people.
Few people trolled the girls in the comments section of the Facebook post while few fundamentalists said what they did was against their ideologies and shouldn’t have done it. One of the comments read – “Guess there’s not enough space in these girls’ home to tie them down, and hence they have been left free!”
The flash mob was performed by the girls at a rally conducted by the district health department on World Aids Day. According to Dr Sakeena who is the District Medical Health Officer, the girls were students of the a dental college in the district and were part of the rally. “When the students invited me to inaugurate a campaign at their college, we suggested that all of us get together and contribute to the district-level campaigns. While our rally was going from the Collector’s bungalow to the Town Hall, three girl students performed a flash mob. I am taken aback at the narrow-minded comments being shared on social media about the flash mob,” Dr Sakeena said.
