Just over a week ago, actress Varu Sarathkumar was a part of Akasha Mittayi, which is a remake of Samuthirakani’s Tamil hit Appa. The remake is also being directed by Samuthirakani himself. The makers had announced that Varu was going to play the lead role and actress also posted on her social media page that she was excited to be a part of the project. But something went wrong and Varu Sarathkumar walked out of the project after shooting for only two days.
The point-blank speaking actress posted a message on her Twitter page that she has quit Akasha Mittayi and thanked director Samuthirakani for supporting her in her decision. She wrote, “Thnk u to Samuthirakani sir n Jayaram sir for havng supported my decision.. can’t work wid male chauvinists n mannerless prods..#respectwomen”.

Sources close to the unit reveal that the actress was utterly disappointed with the way she was treated by the producers of the film and hence decided to part ways with the film. However, director Samuthirakani has a different version of this incident.
Apparently, the actress was unhappy with the kind of accommodation provided to her and there was an argument that happened because of it, and hence she had to leave the project. After Varu left the film, Shruti Sawant, known as Iniya, has been roped in as the female lead.
Varu Sarathkumar has been a vociferous personality and always stood up against any incidents against women. In the past, the actress posted on her twitter account about an incident which she had faced when she was a part of a television show.
