Veteran Malayalam actor Kalasala Babu passes away due to illness

It is being said that the actor has been suffering this ailment for a long time and was being treated for more than three months now.

Popular Malayalam actor Kalasala Babu passed away in Kochi late last night, Sunday, at a hospital where he was undergoing treatment for a heart ailment. Kalasala Babu passed away to cerebral haemorrhage and passed away late in the night, a report in Mathrubhumi said. It is being said that the actor has been suffering this ailment for a long time and was being treated for more than three months now. Malayalam film, industry is mourning the passing away of the veteran actor and many actors, filmmakers and others are taking to social media to post condolence messages. Kalasala Babu played mostly negative roles in Malayalam cinema and started his career with Ineya Thedi. Coming from a family of dancers of various forms including Kathakali and Mohiniyattam, Kalasala Babu begin acting in theatre first before foraying into cinema.

Kalasala Babu has acted in more than 50 films in Malayalam spread over two decades. Kalasala Babu acted in some top hits like Runway with Dileep, Thuruppu Gulan with Mamootty, Balettan with Mohanlal, Pokkiriraja with Mamootty and Prithviraj. After taking a break, Kalasala Babu returned to acting with Kasthuriman which was directed by AK Lohithadas.

Kalasala Babu is survived by wife Lalitha and children, Sreedevi and Viswanathan, who reside outside of India. It is being reported that the family would wait for children to arrive before proceeding with the final rites of the veteran actor. Reports also reveal that the final rites may take place at his residence in Kochi, however, few say they may conduct them at his hometown.

Many industry personalities are expressing their condolences to the family of Kalasala Babu who is a popular personality in Malayalam cinema. Having acted alongside top stars like Mammootty, Mohanlal and many others, Kalasala Babu was a dear friend to many actors and filmmakers as well.
