News spread like fire that Malayalam actor and filmmaker Sreenivasan was hospitalised after he suffered a cardiac arrest late Tuesday night. It was reported that Sreenivasan was admitted to a private hospital and was under observation in the ICU. However, Sreenivasan’s elder son, Vineeth, has now clarified that his father was brought to the hospital because of a variation in his blood sugar and not a cardiac arrest. Vineeth took to social media and posted a message about this, and asked everyone to not spread false rumours. “Due to the variation in the blood sugar level, brought my father to the hospital. The doctor told him that he would be discharged tomorrow. I beg you not to spread false news. Thank you all,” read Vineeth’s message on Facebook.
Reports had revealed that he was stable after being admitted into the hospital and is currently out of danger. Sreenivasan was taken to the Aster Medicity hospital in Kochi and is currently being treated there for his diabetes, according to Vineeth. Vineeth’s statement about Sreenivasan’s health condition would be a huge sigh of relief for Malayalam movie lovers and industry colleagues since he is one of the most liked actors in Malayalam.
Sreenivasan entered the Malayalam film industry as an actor and later went on to become one of the most accomplished directors and script writers. The 61-year old filmmaker has also won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film in 1989 for Vadakkunokkiyantram and a National Film Award too for Best Film on Other Social Issues in 2000 for Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala.
Sreenivasan has two sons – Vineeth and Dhyan – and both of them are also into filmmaking. Vineeth Sreenivasan, besides acting, is a singer and producer too, and has sung more than 200 songs in Malayalam. Vineeth also has many albums to his credit which are not part of any of his feature films.
Dhayn, on the other hand, made his debut in acting recently in 2013 with Thiru. Dhyan is currently working on his directorial debut titled Love Action Drama which features Nivin Paul and Nayantara in the lead roles.
