Punjabi actor Wamiqa Gabbi made her debut in Malayalam cinema last year with Godha and was seen playing an intense role. Wamiqa impressed everyone with her performance in Godha and looks like the actor got herself a role in a top film. According to a report in Times of India, Wamiqa Gabbi has been roped in for the film 9 which is being produced by Prithviraj Sukumaran jointly with Sony Pictures India. The report further said that the makers will soon make an announcement regarding Wamiqa’s casting in the film. Wamiqa is currently busy with her assignments in Punjabi cinema and will soon join the shooting of 9, emerging reports reveal. Wamiqa had even posted on her social media pages about this satting – “Big Announcement Soon!”. 9 will have Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role and directed by Jenuse Mohamed. 9 will also be Sony Pictures Indian entry in to Malayalam cinema and will be distributed by them call over.

Prithviraj Sukumaran had recently announced that he is now getting into production and would soon begin his maiden film as a producer. The actor had named his production house Prithviraj Productions. And making the announcement official, Prithviraj Sukumaran had taken to social media and confirmed that he would be joining hands with worlds renowned production house, Sony Pictures, for his maiden production in Malayalam cinema. Prithviraj even confirmed that soon an announcement would be made about the first film of their collaboration with Sony Pictures. 9 will be the first movie for the collaboration.

It started with what I thought was a casual conversation over coffee with Vivek Krishnani, MD, Sony Pictures India. I was trying to convince him that if ideas that would make entertaining films and yet stay away from conventions were what they were looking for, then Malayalam cinema is the place to be,” wrote Prithviraj on his Instagram page.
