The much-loved Mammootty is beyond any doubt one of the most iconic names in Malayalam cinema today. During his highly illustrious career that spans over four decades, the National award winner has won the love of fans courtesy his evergreen personality, gripping performances and remarkable range as an actor. Moreover, over the years, he has been a part of several popular films and proved that he is greatness personified. Now, there is some awesome news in store for his well-wishers. In an exciting development, Mammootty is set to play former Andhra CM YSR in his eagerly-awaited biopic.
The film will be made in Telugu and is going to be helmed by Mahi Raghav. Confirming the good news, the filmmaker said that he will soon be discussing characterisation with the superstar.
“Yes, Mammootty sir has agreed to do the lead role. The film will be made on a lavish scale and a lot of homework will go into it. I’ll be meeting Mammootty sir soon and we will work on the characterisation together,” he added.
Interestingly, the film will revolve around YSR’s ‘padyatra’ and will be shot on a grand scale. Previously, it was rumoured that Suriya would play YSR’s son in the biopic but this is not confirmed. Reacting to the rumour, Mahi Raghav said that nothing has been finalised yet.
“No! Those rumours are completely false. We haven’t approached anybody else yet. So far, my sole focus till date was on getting the right actor for the lead role. Now that it’s been finalised, I will work on the rest of the cast,” added the director.
We wish the team of the YSR biopic good luck and hope that it does justice to his mass leader image. On a related note; this is a busy time for Mammootty. Besides the YSR biopic, he has Parole and Raja 2 in his kitty.
