The trailer of the much-awaited Malayalam movie, Aabhasam starring Rima Kallingal and Suraj Venjaramoodu in lead roles was released yesterday by South Indian actor Prakash Raj.
The official trailer gives a glimpse of the social issues faced by people in the society like black money, moral policing and communal tensions through a bus journey. Aabhasam also stars Indrans, Alancier, Sheethal Shyam, Gilu joseph, Lopez, Vineeth Vishwam and Divya Gopinath.
Aabhasam has already been in news for its legal battle on cuts and mutes with the censor board as the movie was awarded an ‘A’ certificate which didn’t go well with the makers. The crew members vehemently opposed the cuts, which resulted in the postponement of the release.
Earlier the producer of the movie, Sanju S Unnithan said, “We are ready to comply with their (censor board) demand- to make a few mutes but still the movie can’t escape A certificate given by the board. The claims from the censor board side were that the film does not convey any positive social message to the society. But it’s a satire. We won’t accept the A certificate and will surely place a request to review the decision”.
Talking to media during the International film festival of Kerala, Rima Kallingal had said “we are expecting controversies about the social issues that have been discussed in the movie, and we are ready to accept it. There should be a talk. And these issues will be solved only when we talk”.
Aabhasam is written and directed by debutant Jubith Naradath. Dev has composed the background score and Oorali Band has composed the music for the soundtrack.
The film was initially expected to hit the screens on January 5. Now, after a long battle with the censor board, Aabhasam is slated to hit the screens during Vishu.
