The highly popular Rajinikanth is beyond doubt the single most decorated and revered names in Indian cinema today. Fondly called ‘Thalaivaa’, this iconic superstar has established himself as a source of inspiration for fans thanks to his larger-than-life personality, stylish onscreen image and of course his simple nature. Moreover, he has earned the respect of fans as he is a self-made fan in every sense.
At present, Rajini has high-profile films in his kitty—‘Kaala’ and ‘2.0’. ‘Kaala’ is touted to be a crime- drama and has been directed by Pa Ranjith.
The film features the veteran star in the role of a gangster and has been shot in Mumbai. Produced by actor Dhanush, the film has created a buzz amongst fans as it marks the second time that Rajinikanth is working with Ranjith. The two had previously joined hands for ‘Kabali’ which did well at the box office. The film’s latest posters were released on December 12 and became the talk of the town in no time. In it, Rajinikanth was seen in a raw and intense avatar that he carried off like a pro! Besides the superstar, it also features Bollywood diva Huma Qureshi in the lead. Sometime ago, she had said that working Rajini was a terrific experience for her.
“It’s an amazing experience to work with Rajinikanth. When he walks, everybody becomes silent and make space for him. For me, the most beautiful thing with him is the simplicity he carries. He is such a humble person. I have never seen a superstar who is so humble, who is so simple and down-to-earth,” Huma had told a leading daily.
As far as ‘2.0’ is concerned, it is a sci-fi thriller and has been directed by S Shankar. A sequel to the 2010 release ‘Enthiran’ and will see Rajini reprise his Chitti character from the first part. Besides him, the film also has Amy Jackson and Bollywood star Akshay Kumar in the lead. Akki will be playing a character named Dr Richard in what is the first Tamil film of his career. Recently, Amy had said that she learned a lot from ‘Thalaivaa’ while shooting for ‘2.0’.
“Sir (Rajinikanth) is fantastic and I have learnt many things from him — from not just the craft point of view but from the person he is. He is very calm, humble and dedicated to his work, which is lovely to see after all these years,” she had added.
Interestingly, the audio launch of ‘2.0’ was held in October in Dubai and it proved to be a spectacle. At the event, Akki had said that Bollywood can learn a lot from its Southern counterpart.
“I have done 130 films (in Bollywood). ‘2.0′ was my 131st film. I can only say that during the making of those 130 films, I got to learn little from every film, but I was learning throughout the shooting of this film. There’s a lot that we have to learn from South because the way they work, we have to understand a lot now. They work in unity and respect each other’s talent, we have to learn that,” the ‘Khiladi had added.
At the same event, Rajini had spoken about his career and said that faith in the almighty had made his journey possible.
I don’t even remember how these 40 years passed. It still feels like 4-5 years. If not for god’s grace and the love of my fans, I wouldn’t have come this far. These 40 years have taught me that fame and money only bring minimum happiness. When people ask me is it difficult to be Rajinikanth, I tell them it’s only possible because of my faith in the almighty,” Rajini had quipped.
He had also asked fans to avoid spreading negativity on the social media.
Support good films and encourage good talent. If you don’t like a film, please avoid spreading negativity through social media,” he had said.
