If you are a fan of the much-loved Vikram, then we have some awesome news in store for you. According to a leading website, his latest release ‘Sketch’—which released on Pongal– has done well at the Chennai box office and managed to collect Rs 3.5 cr at the end of its second weekend. A crime-thriller, the film has received mixed to negative reviews from movie buffs, however, this does not seem to have affected its performance at the ticket window too much. Besides Vikram, ‘Sketch’ also features Tamannaah in the lead. The subdued and raw chemistry between Vikram and Tammy is regarded as one of the biggest talking points of the film.

Just like ‘Sketch’, the other big Pongal release ‘Thaana Serndha Koottam’ too has done good business at the box office and proved to be an above average grosser.. At the end of the second weekend, it collections stand at at Rs 6.3crore. The favourable reviews seem to have boosted its commercial prospects in a big way. A crime-thriller, TSK features Suriya in the lead and is loosely based on the Bollywood hit ‘Special 26. Its supporting cast includes names such as Ramya Krishnan and RJ Balaji. Speaking at its success meet, Suriya had said that it is a film that has helped him break several stereotypes about his onscreen image.

“I didn’t want to miss this event at all. This has become a very important film for me. The reviews have been very good for the movie and the feedback I have received is that a lot has been broken in this film, from what I’ve done in my past four to five films. A lot of people have been saying I should do more films like these and the sole reason for this is Vignesh ShivN. Anirudh’s music has crossed borders and taken this film everywhere. All the technicians and actors are very important, and I will not forget this experience,” he had added.

Interestingly, Prabhudeva’s ‘Gulaebaghavali’ too hit screens during the Pongal weekend. It has done decent business at the box office despite facing stiff competition from the biggies.
