As we all know, newcomer Gautham Karthik—the son of veteran Tamil star Karthik—made his big screen debut with the 2013 release ‘Kadal’ . Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film earned favourable reviews and helped Gautam get his career off to a good start.
However, his subsequent releases failed to live upto expectations. Now, Gautham is gearing up for the release of ‘Rangoon’. Speaking to a leading daily, he said that he put in a lot of effort to get into the skin of his character.
“I have a tanned look, contrary to my fair skin. I practiced a specific slang for the movie. The director has given an ultimate kutthu number and I think I have pulled it off well! Thanks to my choreographer Sathish,” he revealed.
Besides this, he said that shooting for ‘Rangoon’ was a learning experience for him as he got to explore Chennai properly.
“I play Venkat, a Burmese repatriate in Rangoon, which is set in the year 2000. It’s about a boy who comes to Chennai for a living and his journey in the city will be related. Some of the places in Chennai are still alien to me,” he added.
For the uninitiated, ‘Rangoon’ is a crime-drama and will hit screens next week. Also featuring Sana Makbul in the lead, it has been directed by Rajkumar.
On a related note, besides ‘Rangoon’, Gautham also has ‘Ivan Thanthiran’ and ‘Harabhara Mahadevka’ in his kitty. In other words, the young actor has quite a packed year ahead.
